Gold coins offer all Americans protection from the very real possibility of a second dip in the recession, not just the privileged few.

March 28, 2011 – Gold coins offer all Americans protection from the very real possibility of a second dip in the recession, not just the privileged few. And if you’re among the many Americans who believe the first dip is still with us, it is even more important to protect yourself as things are about to go from bad to worse.

Some folks are doing well, however. According to the Wall Street Journal the Commerce Department is expected to report today that personal income in America rose 5% last year. If you were overlooked for that raise, don’t feel like an orphan. The steady decline in the contribution of wages to total income since 1970 gives a clue about where that money went. Meanwhile, the much trumpeted cut in income tax has been gobbled up putting gas in the car and food on the table.

The best hope for real recovery has been pinned on small business, but small business is reeling. Less than a quarter of the 77% of small businesses hurt by the recession have experienced any sustained recovery according to a Rasmussen survey. And more than half of small business owners believe the economy is getting worse.

Agriculture and manufacturing did got a boost thanks to Bernanke’s funny money. Cheap dollars and soaring global prices for food and fuel gave the sectors a quick fix, but it won’t last. Rising input costs and a broad-based global economic slowdown are poised to bring down the house of cards.

For the man on the street hard times are still here and the worse is likely yet to come. One in five Americans believe another depression is just around the corner and nearly half believe that possibility exists. A plurality expect the economy will be worse by year’s end.

The economic outlook is gloomy at best. But an investment in gold coins today could let the sun shine in tomorrow.
