February 05, 2011 – In 1914 the Fed fired up its presses for the first time giving Americans the choice between $20 gold coins or crisp new $20 bills. Today the gold in those coins is worth over $1300 while the bills are worth, well, $20. With that sort of track record, I wonder why the Fed is still in control of our economy.

Under legislative mandate the ten members of the Federal Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC) along with 87 supporting staff sought to uncover the culprits responsible for the collapse of the economy. After nearly two years they agreed to disagree and issued their final report – some 650 pages of majority opinion and two dissenting opinions of party line rhetoric.

In all of that nobody called the system into question, and that leaves Bernanke free to pursue his delusional policy of pumping the economy full of Monopoly money. The man seems to be everywhere. When not brushing aside foreign concerns that his policy is fueling inflation and driving soaring commodity prices he is trumpeting his success as evidenced by the stock market rally. But this is not academia, Mr. Bernanke, this is real life.

According to www.shadowstats.com our real unemployment stands at 22%. People on fixed incomes are being squeezed by energy and food prices while countless others are being forced from their homes every day. The average American is not encouraged by seeing Wall Street’s coffers bulge from Bernanke’s dollar debasing policies.

Now worth only a nickel, the once mighty dollar has shrunk the life savings of the average hard working Joe to a tiny fraction of the wealth it once represented. Wealth doesn’t disappear, it just moves around, usually into the pockets of Wall Street money barons.

With an investment in gold coins, however, your wealth stays put right where it should be – in your safe deposit box.
